DEAR BONNIE: I really need to know that there is life after death, and that we don’t just go “poof” and we’re gone. Can you elaborate for me? — Danielle
DEAR DANIELLE: I can assure you that we don’t just go “poof,” and there is more to this life than just an ending. I know it can be hard to grasp the concept when your faith has been challenged and you are feeling alone, but please know that your loved ones are very much alive in the spirit world.
I personally feel that everyone should experience seeing a connection to the other side so that you will know that life goes on and love never dies. This is what a medium does, especially during an event. We show you how the link can happen in a large gathering. If you are interested but have a fear of having a private reading, an event is the place to go and watch a medium work.
Everyone has a different style of presenting the spirit world to his or her audience, and you might connect to one medium more than another. I know I have my favorites who I like to watch and how they present the spirit world. I always tell my clients that I am the gentlest medium you can find — it’s more like sitting down with a friend having a cup of tea. I named my television show on Leominster Access Television “The Medium Next Door” because I wanted to take away the fear of having a reading and replace it with “wow, what a blessing that was!”
A medium is meant to be the conduit, or middleman, who can bring your loved one to you for a conversation that you need and want. What could be more precious than that? The experience of hearing from your loved ones is priceless to many.
A medium’s job is to give you evidence that your loved ones are still here with you and to convey the message of love that we all miss from them not being here physically. We can give you proof that they know about the amazing moments we are having since they left us.
Our loved ones will also send us signs, like songs on the radio, the scent of your grandmother’s perfume, a knocking sound, or the appearance of a cardinal, to let us know they are near and watching out for us.
I like to bring in some lightheartedness when I give readings to ease the fear people may have, while at the same time showing compassion and giving evidential proof, so there is no doubt of who is coming through for you during a reading.
In the end, it’s all in how you want to perceive the experience. For myself, it’s a blessing every time I bring a loved one close enough that you can almost feel them, so that you will know they didn’t just go “poof” and disappear forever. They are always with you.
