WESTFORD — Nashoba Valley Technical High School has announced its students and athletes of the month for September.

Students of the Month

Students of the Month are selected based on the school’s “Portrait of a Graduate” attributes: Resourceful, Responsible, Resilient, Respectful and Ready.

Abigail Steers, of Townsend, daughter of Ron and Lori Steers, is a sophomore in the Veterinary Assisting program. She was nominated by English instructor Angela D’Allesandro, who said Abby displayed resourcefulness, respect and kindness when helping another student in her biology class. The student was having difficulty taking notes and was becoming agitated in class, and Abby offered her notes to the student.

“Instead of shying away from him when he became agitated, she saw an opportunity to be of assistance to him, showing her resourcefulness,” D’Allesandro wrote.

Trevor Clark, of Pepperell, son of Craig and Sarah Clark, is a sophomore in the Electrical Technology program. English instructor Elizabeth Monteiro described Trevor as polite, hard-working and a great role model for other students.

After the recent homecoming football game, Trevor, who plays running back and linebacker for the Vikings, saw a man with a cane fall to the ground.

“Trevor ran right over, helped the man up and asked if he was OK,” Monteiro wrote. “He stayed with the man’s family until he was able to walk off. He was responsible, ready, resilient and incredibly respectful.”

Athletes of the Month

Samuel Barr, of Ayer, son of Dave and Dawn Barr, is a senior soccer player for the Vikings who hopes to continue his soccer career in college, either at Salem State University or Bridgewater State University. He is in the Engineering Technology program.

Sam was nominated by soccer coach Richard Reppucci, who wrote that Sam had nine goals and eight assists, including a late game-winner to lead the boys soccer team in scoring early in the season.

Anthony LoConte, of Chelmsford, son of Jeff and Julie LoConte, is a sophomore captain of the golf team. Anthony is in the Plumbing & Heating program.

Golf coach Sayda Betsold wrote: “With his leadership, Anthony has led the Vikings, playing in the number-one spot. His sportsmanship on an off the course shines. He has been a great asset, bringing in more than 25 percent of the team’s total points for the season.”
