ShirleyArts! calls all interested performers for upcoming musical ‘Bah Humbug’

SHIRLEY — Performers from grades 2 through adult, of all experience levels, are welcome to audition for the upcoming ShirleyArts! fall family music “Bah Humbung,” by Rebecca Ryland and Bill Francoeur.

“Bah Humbug” is a re-telling of the timeless holiday classic featuring the familiar story of Ebenezer Scrooger with Tiny Tim, the Cratchit family, dancing townspeople, carolers, street urchins, ghosts — and even a few elves.

The production will be directed by Meredith Marcinkewicz with Emily Lambert choreographing the show.

In a press release, ShirleyArts! said auditions will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, and rehearsals will talke place from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. The first rehearsal will be held on Sept. 8.

Younger actors will be dismissed by 8:30 p.m. for most rehearsals, while teens and adults will often stay until 9:30 p.m.

All performances for “Bah Humbung” will be held at the Ayer/Shirley Middle School Auditorium, located at 1 Hospital Road, Shirley.

Catch the show at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 4, 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 5, or 2 p.m. on Nov. 6.

Participants are required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination in order to participate.
