TOWNSEND — The Townsend Military Band will play a concert from the band stand on the Townsend Common on Thursday, Aug. 18.
Area residents of all ages are encouraged to bring their lawn chair or blanket to the Common that evening so they may sit and socialize with other concertgoers while they enjoy good music and fresh air.
The band will open its concert at 7:30 p.m. by playing Alford’s “Colonel Bogey March” and Custer’s arrangement of “Beauty and the Beast.” “Sweet Caroline” arranged by Waters, “The Wizard of Oz” arranged by Barnes, and Hall’s “American Cadet March” will be performed. Bennett’s arrangement of “Show Boat,” Bennett’s arrangement of “Victory at Sea” and “Sons of the Brave” by Bidgood will be included in the first portion of the program.
Fucik’s “Florentiner March” and “Highlights from Sophisticated Ladies” arranged by Cacavas will be played following intermission. “John Williams: Evening at Pops” arranged by Higgins and “Hoch Heidecksburg” by Herzer will be performed before the Townsend Band concludes its concert at 9:30 p.m. by playing the “Star Spangled Banner.”
