PEPPERELL — Shoppers, some coming as far away as Maine, filled bags to purchase all sorts of books, media, and puzzles at the recent Friends of the Lawrence Library’s annual used-book sale.

Each year locals donate thousands of books to the annual sale. Book are collected all year long at the library. They are then sorted and boxed by volunteers and stored until the next sale.

The Friends relied on volunteers to move and set up 47 tables, fully load the 26-foot U-Haul truck with boxes to bring to the Peter Fitzpatrick School cafeteria. It took 4 days to set up the sale.

After a short rest, the Friends of Lawrence Library will be getting ready for their annual toy sale, which will be held from 8 a.m.-noon, on Saturday, May 7.

Do you have toys that need a new home? You can donate new or gently used toys at the library from April 30 to May 6 during library hours. Donations can be toys – big and small, indoor and outdoor, baby items, and games and puzzles. Sorry no stuffed animals will be accepted or sold at the sale. The sale is held in front of the Lawrence Library, rain or shine under tents.

The Friends of the Lawrence Library is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to foster closer relations between the library and the community. It promotes awareness of the library’s services and programs.

The Friends work to raise funds for Library purchases. Membership is open to all and starts at $10 a year. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month from September to June.
