ACTON — Shirley resident Victory Doughty is starring in two roles as Acton’s community theater, Theatre III, puts on its fall production of “Lovers and Other Strangers.”

It is a story of seduction, infidelity, passion, commitment and marriage. Performed in five, one-act vignettes, the story is a comedy allowing the audience to laugh at timeless truths about relationships — and at the lifestyle of the 1970s.

Theatre III’s performance is based on the 1968 play by Renee Taylor and Joseph Bologna. The performance is directed by Shahn and Ed Knights, and is produced by Linda Minkoff.

‘Lovers and Other Strangers’ stars a local cast, including Ginny Carpenter of Marlboro, Peter Cavicchio of Lexington, Maren Caulfield of Harvard, John Day of Carlisle, Victoria Doughty of Shirley, Catherine Hersh of Watertown, John Lynch of Lincoln, Carla Perrotta of Lexington, Glenn Pierce of Arlington and Lee Pallotta of Acton.

Doughty appears in two roles: Joan, who may be getting divorced from Richie (or maybe not), and Susan, who may not be getting married to Mike tomorrow after all — or maybe she will?

Performances will be held at 8 p.m. on Nov. 5, 6, 12 and 13. A performance will also be held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 7.

Tickets are $22. Seniors, students or groups of seven or more are $19. Vaccination and mask are required to attend.

Theatre III is located at 250 Central St. in Acton.
