DEVENS — Tails are wagging with excitement as the third annual Devens Dog and Music Festival approaches on Sunday.
This year’s festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 27 Antietam St. Admission is free for military veterans, children under the age of 12 and dogs. Adults are $10. All proceeds from the event are going to a good cause — matching military veterans with service dogs.
Sunday promises fun for the entire family with food, live entertainment, demonstrations and other activities. Handler Marine Corps veteran James Henderson and his band Last Call Radio will be among the acts taking the stage. Larry Bee and the Buzz will perform hits from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
The Devens Dog and Music Festival is organized in partnership with the Rotary Clubs of Ayer, Harvard, Shirley and Devens. Clear Path for Veterans has joined in to bring the Dogs2Vets program to New England.
“We are excited to bring the first of its kind festival to Devens where we will celebrate the matching of Veterans with Service Dogs,” organizers said in a statement. “Our goal is to raise enough funds and sponsorships to support the Dogs2Vets program in acquiring and training puppies to be service dogs. With your help we can deliver more Service Dogs to local Veterans.”
All dogs attending the festival must be on a leash, no longer than 6 feet. All vaccinations for dogs must be up to date and people are asked to bring their proof of registration.
Sponsorships may still be available, including the opportunity to sponsor or co-sponsor a service dog. For sponsorship opportunities email nadeau@clearpathne.org.
