TOWNSEND — The Townsend Congregational Church will host the lawn party at the Townsend Military Band’s Thursday, July 29, concert on the Townsend Common.

Church members will be serving hot dogs, hamburgers, and sausages with peppers and onions to hungry concertgoers. Fresh fruit cups, fried dough, popcorn, root beer floats, cold soda and bottled water will also be available.

There will be a wide variety of homemade cookies, breads, cakes, pies and candies to enjoy for dessert or to take home.

The Village Common Children’s Center from the church will have an information table with a few young children’s activities set up on the Common that evening.

The Townsend Military Band, under the direction of Conductor Thomas Souza, will open its concert at 7:30 p.m. by playing “Seventy-Six Trombones” arranged by Anderson and Yoder’s arrangement of the “Al Hirt Medley for Concert Band,” “Bugler’s Holiday” transcribed by Edwards, Klohr’s “Billboard March,” and “Selections from Mary Poppins” arranged by Ricketts will also be performed.

“The Homefront: Musical Memories from World War 2” arranged by Christensen and “That Ragtime Regiment Band” arranged by Lewis will be included in the first portion of the concert.

Buckley’s “Honor The Founders” and Holst’s “First Suite for Military Band in Eb” will be played following intermission. Grainger’s “Irish Tune from County Derry” and Duble’s “Bravura March” will be performed before the Townsend Band concludes its concert at 9:30 p.m. by playing the “Star Spangled Banner.”
