If you missed out on the launch party at The Brush Art Gallery & Studios last Saturday, don’t worry. There are still six weeks left to take in the 38th Annual Exhibition at the downtown venue.

This year’s event, 256 Market St., titled “Chroma,” runs through Nov. 1 and features the nine in-house artists, who will open their shops to browsers and buyers six days a week.Inside the entryway of the first-floor gallery are several unique pieces created within those very walls.

This event is normally staged in midsummer, but state and local mandates forbade such gatherings until a recent loosening of restrictions. Regardless of season, though, the group show is always a hit with visitors and a pleasure for the artists.

“The nine artists have brightened things up by creating a wide variety of exciting works that express perceptions and relationships of tone and hue as elements of color,” according to the promotional release.

One highlight of the series is the Artist Talk scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 18, from 1 to 3 p.m. But visitors can almost always talk with the artists anyway in a more personal sense as The Brush With History, as the gallery is formally known, is home base and open workshop for all the artists. The doors are open Tuesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, from noon to 4 p.m.

There is no cost for admission to view the works or to watch the artists create their pieces in fabric or canvas or clay, on jewelry or ceramic or photographs. Or you can stop and shop from home by visiting

Throughout the six-week run the walls will be adorned with beautiful samples of the skilled artists working beyond the open gallery in the studios behind.

Let the autumn be artful and art be autumnal.
