PEPPERELL – Police are looking to identify a woman who allegedly stole and forged checks to make fraudulent purchases.

Police Chief David Scott said in a press release that police believe this woman stole personal checks from the mailboxes of local residents, along with other people from Dunstable and Westford.

Residents in those towns reported fraudulent activity on their bank accounts, with police claiming the woman wrote people’s check information on the bottom of a separate personal check with a fake name on it.

Police say the woman used this method to buy things in Fitchburg, Leominster, Bedford, Gardner and Shrewsbury. Purchases were also made in Nashua and Amherst, N.H.

Police believe the woman is driving a newer gray Toyota Highlander.

Anyone with information on this woman should contact the Pepperell Police Department at 978-433-2424.
