Sundays are for Shannon
Sundays are for Shannon

“Make the most of the day! Laugh. Love. Read. Live. Love. Learn. Play. Dream. Just be happy.”

It wasn’t just another ordinary rainy day on Sunday, Oct. 27. It was an amazing day to celebrate the life of everyone’s beloved Shannon.

Cal Freeman, the vibrant and personable bestie of Shannon, and all of Shannon’s beautiful friends hosted their extremely successful second annual Sundays Are For Shannon 5K race.

More than 145 compassionate and supportive runners, walkers, friends and family gathered at the Smokehouse Tavern in downtown Lowell to honor, remember and pay tribute to sweet Shannon Elizabeth Guthrie.

Shannon, formerly of Dracut, unexpectedly passed at the young age of 33. A 2002 graduate of Dracut High School, she was a hostess at the popular Tavern and Lanam Club in Andover.

Everybody who knew Shannon would describe her as fun-loving, an avid runner who enjoyed music and outdoor activities and loved to travel. According to her dedicated girlfriends, she simply loved life and was a beacon of hope, faith and strength to all. Most of all, she adored her devoted husband David A. Ducharme Jr., and her family and friends.

The Moriarty family turned out.

The Z-List dedicates this page in memory of Shannon. Always remember — Sundays are for Shannon!

This single event raised $11,000, with proceeds going to the Jimmy Fund and the Murphy Dolliver Memorial Foundation! Last year’s proceeds of $10,000 went to the Dracut Scholarship Foundation.

To donate, mail checks to 341 Jones Ave., Dracut, MA 01826.

Pals enjoy some complimentary and delicious hot chocolate and doughnuts.
