AYER – Drivers on Harvard Road needing a fill-up in their gas tanks and stomachs now have a healthier option for roadside snacks.
Alltown Fresh, an upstart convenience store chain, opened its second location in Massachusetts at 28 Harvard Road on Wednesday, Dec. 18.
The store also doubles as a gas station for patrons entering and leaving the Ayer rotary from Route 111.
One of many brands under Global Partners LP, Alltown Fresh fancies itself as a market in the style of a farm stand that serves organic coffee and made-to-order meals that are organic, vegan, gluten-free and made from locally-sourced ingredients. These include breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and protein bowls.
“We’re excited to open our second location here in Massachusetts as we continue to bring fresh food choices to those on the go,” Eric Slifka, CEO of Global Partners LP, said in a press release.
“At Alltown Fresh, we have created a farmstand atmosphere where each item on the menu has been thoughtfully developed to fuel our customers’ healthy needs. We’re looking forward to serving the Ayer community with locally sourced items to ensure that guests have plenty of fresh and organic choices,” the CEO added.
The Waltham-based company first launched in January and has three other New England locations: one in Plymouth and two in Connecticut, in Waterbury and Hamden.
Among the items available: Hippeas “Nacho Vibes,” which are organic chickpea puffs; Unreal “dark chocolate almond butter cups;” and naturally pomegranate vanilla flavored cashews.
The new 4,830 square-foot market offers indoor and outdoor seating for customers stopping for lunch or filling up on gas.
It also offers free WiFi, phone-charging stations and areas to walk pets.
Alltown Fresh will be open 24/7 for gas services, while its kitchen will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
