LOWELL — Veterans Day is a day that allows those in the Greater Lowell community to reflect on the persons who have served in the United States armed forces.
The following events will be taking place during the next few days in tribute:
Friday, Nov. 8
The Lowell Veterans Services and the Lowell Council on Aging hosts a free breakfast and Veterans Day Ceremony for veterans and family members at 9:30 a.m. The breakfast takes place at the Senior Center at 276 Broadway.
In Tewksbury, the town’s fourth annual veteran’s breakfast will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Senior Center.
Saturday, Nov. 9
In Carlisle, the annual Operation Delta Dog’s Walk and Wag for Veterans, a scenic walk and event for the community, takes place at Great Brook Farm State Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In Wilmington, the Wilmington Methodist Church is having a complimentary breakfast for all veterans at 9 a.m. The breakfast will take place at 87 Church St.
Sunday, Nov. 10
In Littleton, a re-dedication ceremony of the Veterans Corner will take place on at 1 p.m. The town offices will be closed Monday in observance.
For those who would like to help remove flags from the Ayer cemeteries (St. Mary’s and Woodlawn), you can join Sunday morning at 8 a.m. The flags will then be brought to the Fire Department for proper retirement.
Monday, Nov. 11
Pepperell’s veterans breakfast will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Pepperell VFW on 55 Leighton St.In Ayer, the Joseph M. Connors, Post 139, will be conducting its annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. at Town Hall.
In Billerica, breakfast will be served at the Lodge of Elks at 8:30 a.m. A variety of speakers will also be in attendance at 9:30 a.m., including Congressman Seth Moulton and state Rep. Marc Lombardo.
In Chelmsford, the unveiling of two granite stones for over 100 veteran names will be presented. The observances take place at 230 North Road at 11 a.m.
In Groton, the town will host its annual Veterans Day ceremony at the Groton Fire Station at 45 Farmers Row at 11 a.m
In Townsend, a Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at the VFW Park in West Townsend on Monday at 11 a.m. Light refreshments will be served at the VFW Function hall at 491 Main Street following the ceremony.
In Tewksbury, a veteran’s breakfast will take place at 8 a.m. in the Bayberry Assisted Living facility. The town’s official flag ceremony takes place 9 a.m. at the Blair House and and then another ceremony at town common at 11 a.m.
In Westford, the town’s ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. on the town common. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved indoors to the Center Fire Station on 51 Main St. (next to Town Hall). All veterans who wish to march in the ceremony may congregate behind the J.V. Fletcher Library at 10:30 a.m.
In Wilmington, the town will assemble at the Fourth of July parking lot at 10:30 a.m. and proceed to the town common for this year’s Veterans Day ceremonies at 11 a.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 13
In Lowell, a Veterans Day reception honoring former Mayor Samuel S. Pollard will take place at 4:30 p.m. at the Pollard Memorial Library on 401 Merrimack St.
