PEPPERELL – The Friends of the Lawrence Library held its 11th-annual Wine Tasting on October 19th at the beautiful Lawrence Library. Local vendors offered samples of delicious wines and cider for guests to enjoy, along with tasty food and live music. The Wine Tasting and the annual Used Book Sale are the biggest fundraisers of the year for the Friends.
Each year, attendees receive a complimentary wine glass with a historical Pepperell building etching. This year’s glass featured the Community Church of Pepperell, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary.
A special thanks goes out to all of the local establishments who donated food, flowers, and seasonal decorations. The event was co-sponsored by Pepperell Beverage Company, which is located at 2 Tarbell St. in town.
The Friends is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to foster closer relations between the library and the community. The Friends supports many programs at the Lawrence Library for adults, young adults, and children to enjoy. All library programs are free and open to the public.
The community is invited to join the Friends. Membership begins at $10 a year and is open to all. The Friends meet from September to June on the second Thursday of the month at 10:15 a.m. at the library. Refreshments are always served and there is free babysitting available.
The Friends encourage community involvement at the library. Mark your calendars, because Friday, December 6th is the annual tree lighting event with a visit from Santa! Monthly Open Mic Nights and Saturday concerts in the Art Gallery, the Cupcake Festival, March Used Book Sale, and April Toy Yard Sale are a few more Friends-sponsored events not to be missed.
