TYNGSBORO — Head of School Vitoria Pacifico and the faculty and staff at the Academy of Notre Dame welcomed 350 students and their families to the first annual Welcome Back Carnival on Aug. 26 on the school’s 200-plus-acre campus.

“As the new head of school, I wanted to welcome our students and their families in a way that messaged that we believe that school should be a joyous place of learning,” Pacficio said. “The Welcome Back Carnival provided a fun atmosphere for students to reconnect with their peers, for new students to make friends before the school year starts, and for parents and guardians to have a chance to speak with faculty and staff.”

The carnival featured an inflatable obstacle course, disco-dance moon house, a spinning saucer and Viking Ship ride, as well as popcorn, cotton candy and a full barbecue, all free for NDA families.

Pacifico said the carnival sent an important message to NDA students and their families.

“We value and appreciate that families are entrusting us with the holistic development of their child or children,” she said. “This is one small way we can let our families know that we appreciate them and that we are looking forward to getting to know their child and support that child’s growth as an individual throughout the school year.”
