WESTFORD — Katarina Barden of Groton and Alexa Beaubien of Pepperell are June’s Students of the Month at Nashoba Valley Technical High School.

Katarina, daughter of Mike and Debbie Barden, and Alexa, daughter of Allan and Cindy Beaubien, both recently completed their junior years in the Engineering Technology program. They were nominated together by Science Instructor Jeff Robinson for their “excellent work in Chemistry and other academic courses, and for their third-place finish at SkillsUSA.” Katarina and Alexa received a bronze medal at the SkillsUSA State Competition in Career Pathways Showcase (Industrial & Engineering Technology) this past spring.

Katarina is a member of the Ski Club, Outdoors Club and cross-country team, for which she was named Rookie of the Year. She is a high-honors student and has been inducted into both the National Honor Society and National Honor Society. She plans to attend college to study Civil Engineering.

Alexa is an honor-roll student, and a member of the Outdoors Club and the soccer team. She plans to obtain a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a minor in Architecture or Interior Design, and is looking into Worcester Polytechnic Institute, the University of Massachusetts Lowell and Virginia Tech.
