WESTFORD — Nashoba Valley Technical High School has selected two students for its April Student of the Month and Athlete of the Month honors.

Student of the Month is Kaylin Patterson-Soar of Ayer. Athlete of the Month is Kyle Desjardins of Townsend.

Kaylin, daughter of Richard Soar and Karen Patterson, is a senior in the Cosmetology program. She has been a consistent high-honors student throughout high school, and has been inducted into the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. She is also a freshman mentor.

Kaylin has earned her Cosmetology license has been working at an Ayer salon through the Cooperative Education program, but she plans to take a different path after graduation, attending Framingham State University to study food and nutrition.

She was nominated by English Instructor Bruce Sullivan, who wrote: “Kaylin is a remarkably positive and diligent student in my Senior AP Literature class. She always comes to class prepared and ready to work. Her positive attitude is contagious, and she participates well in many of our class discussions. Kaylin’s literary analysis has improved tremendously, and her senior paper is very well-written and interesting.”

Kyle, son of Craig and Beth Desjardins, is a sophomore goalkeeper for the boys lacrosse team. He also plays defense for the hockey team. He is an honor-roll student in the Robotics & Automation program within Nashoba Tech’s Engineering Academy, and is a member of the school’s Robotics Club. He plans to attend college after graduation.
