The Groton-Dunstable baseball team scored 28 runs and swept a doubleheader from North Middlesex Regional in Groton.
G-D won the opener 15-6 and the nightcap 13-0. Earlier in the week the Crusaders topped Marlboro 5-1.
N. Middlesex 6
In the opener, the Crusaders banged out 14 hits.
Isacc Zhang (2-for-2, 2 runs, 4 RBI), Joe O’Malley (3-for-5, 2 RBI) and Kasey Griffith (2-for-3) swung hot bats.
Riley Curran picked up the win in relief, striking out 7 over 3.2 innings.
For North Middlesex, Pat Aubuchon went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and Dan Abbott went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
N. Middlesex 0
In the second game, Zhang (4 K’s in 4 innings) and Will Bordes (7 K’s in 3 innings) combined on a two-hit shutout.
Griffith went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI to pace G-D.
Bordes blasted a bases-clearing triple. Brendan Ferrari went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI.
Junior Jared Whitby was the winning pitcher, allowing 1 hit with 6 strikeouts in 5 innings. Whitby helped his own cause with a run-scoring hit.
Riley Curran closed out the win by pitching the final 2 innings. Kasey Griffiths smacked an RBI triple, while Isaac Zhang and Will Bordes had 1 hit and 1 RBI apiece for Groton-Dunstable. Brendan Ferrrari drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.
N. Middlesex 4
Both teams had 8 hits and 1 error, as Tyngsboro squeaked out the victory when JT Shaffer hit a walk-off two-run single.
For North Middlesex, Pat Aubuchon drove in all the runs, 2 coming from a home run he hit in the top of the seventh inning. Aubuchon also was the starting pitcher, going 4 innings, and allowing 2 runs with 2 strikeouts.
Ayer Shirley 7
St. Bernard’s 3
John Dupell and Michael Woodland combined to toss a 7-hitter in the Mid-Wach win in Ayer.
Dupell went 4.2 innings before Woodland pitched the final 2.1 frames. Ian Keene went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and Nate Hunt went 1-for-3 with 2 RBI for the Panthers.
Ayer Shirley 7
St. Bernard’s 5
Led by Devin Delyani, the Panthers captured the Mid-Wach home victory.
Delyani went 2-for-4 with a double and scored a pair of runs. Jill Deshler went 1-for-3 and hammered a solo home run.
Danny Angell collected 6 goals to lead the Tigers.
For Groton-Dunstable, netting 2 goals each were Tyler Dodge, Luke Liorda, Deaglin Garside and Aiden McDonough. Jackson Graham added a goal. Declan Nash made 4 saves.
G-D also lost to Westford Academy, 14-5, in a non-league game.
Rachel Erickson paced Groton-Dunstable’s offense with 7 goals and 1 assist.
Abby Eisenklam added 2 goals and 8 assists for the Crusaders (3-2). Hannah Wynn potted 4 goals and Noelle St. Germain (9 saves) earned the win in goal.
