The Ayer Shirley High School sports Hall of Fame has announced the inductees for the class of 2018. The selectees include eight individuals plus the entire team of the 1981 Women’s Basketball Team.

Every year the town’s Hall of Fame committee chooses athletes from the past to induct into the shrine. The criteria for the alumni is that they must have graduated more than 10 years ago and have dedicated significant years of service to Ayer Shirley High School athletics since leaving.

The HOF’s vice-chairman, Tony Casavecchia said that this year’s class is the third in the young history of the shrine. Inductees include six athletes: Jamie Lamoreaux, General Holman, Jamie Morris, Dianne Bacon, Janet Rowthorn and Shawnn Gyles as well as Steve Fallon, supporter and Dick Malloy, coach.

The specific criteria for consideration differs for teams, coaches, athletes and contributors. All that will be spelled out, as well as individual biographies, in next week’s issue of Nashoba Valley Voice.
