Uncover the mystery of Nancy Drew covers at Pepperell exhibit

PUBLISHED: | UPDATED:

PEPPERELL — Jim McNamara got hooked on Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys when he tuned in to The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries on TV in the late 1970s. Soon after, he was reading the books on which the popular series was based and became more captivated.

In 1985, he became intrigued with the cover illustrations and started researching the artists and collecting the original artwork. Today, McNamara owns nearly 4,000 Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books, from the 1920s to now and written in several languages. He also collects memorabilia and cover artwork from each decade, dating back to the 1950s. McNamara now shares his collection with the public.

His latest endeavor is “Book Illustration: Nancy Drew & The Hardy Boys,” an exhibit of original cover art from both series in addition to an assortment of first edition books.

Come enjoy this unique, nostalgic art show. The exhibit will run through June 8. The art exhibits are always free and open to the public. All Art Gallery shows are funded by the Friends of the Lawrence Library. Lawrence Library is located at 15 Main Street, Pepperell. lawrencelibrary.org
