Shirley forum will discuss ‘peaceful passage’ at home

SHIRLEY — The next Community Forum at Trinity Chapel will introduce the topic of creating a peaceful passage for your loved one at home. The forum will be held on April 11 in the Shepherd’s Hall, 186 Center Road.

For thousands of years families have taken care of their loved ones at home after death. It is a choice that is still possible. A traditional home wake is a family-centered response to death. It is different from a conventional funeral by its emphasis on the family maintaining control and decision-making in the days after a death. Home wakes allow time to honor your loved one and to grieve in the privacy of your own home. The experience is unique and personal. It can also be more affordable and respectful to the environment.

This program will give you the legal facts and logistics, and a description of the enormous personal benefits that come with this profound moment in a family’s life. There will be time for discussion, and questions and answers.

The presenter is Peg Lorenz, a home funeral educator. Her service is called Peaceful Passage at Home (

There will be light refreshments at 7 p.m., followed by the program at 7:30 p.m. Call 978-425-9041 with questions.
