Shirley Girl Scout Troop 73497 teamed up with the Nashoba Valley Amateur Radio Club to host the 2nd Annual World Thinking Day on the Air.

Internationally celebrated, World Thinking Day honors sister Girl Scouts and Girl Guides around the globe. The event was held at the Ayer Shirley Middle School on Feb. 18 and was attended by Girl Scouts in the Nashaway Service Unit (Ayer, Dunstable, Groton, and Shirley).

NVARC members taught attendees about Morse Code and the Phonetic Alphabet system, world time zones, and ham radio equipment. Troop 73497 led scouts in related crafts, games, and activities, and reflected on this year’s theme, “Impact,” by coming up with meaningful ways they could make a difference in their community. Donations for the Loaves and Fishes food pantry in Devens were also collected.
