SHIRLEY — Fidelity Bank is helping full-service office staff at its Shirley branch ring in the holiday season with a gift of $500 to spend on the organization of their choice. Staff have decided to support Friends of Shirley Seniors, which was formed in 2014 to support the Shirley Council on Aging by raising funds to provide for the needs of Shirley seniors.

The Friends of Shirley Seniors have formed a partnership with the Shirley Charitable Foundation, which was created using funds Fidelity Bank endowed to it almost 20 years ago following its merger with Shirley Cooperative Bank. Fidelity Bank is a community bank with headquarters in Leominster. It has 10 full-service offices in central Massachusetts with plans to add a second branch in Worcester and a branch in Winchendon in 2018. Fidelity Bank pioneered the LifeDesign philosophy that encourages employees to use their hearts and heads to get people where they want to be. Funding for the gift comes from Fidelity Bank’s LifeDesign Community Dividend, which is money Fidelity Bank sets aside annually to improve the quality of life of communities through supporting local organizations.

“The annual gifts to our full service offices are one of the best ways we use our LifeDesign Community Dividend,” says Fidelity Bank Chairman and CEO Ed Manzi. “Each year, I enjoy learning about the important local causes the branches decide to support.”

In 2016, Fidelity bank donated $290,000 to more than 100 worthy community organizations through the LifeDesign Community Dividend.
