The Groton-Dunstable girls’ basketball team earned the eighth annual Pete Trainor Memorial Christmas Tournament title with a 48-26 victory over North Middlesex Regional last week in Townsend.

Tourney MVP Rachel Romich scored 13 of her 18 points in the fourth quarter, while Crusader teammates Bronwyn Mulligan (8 points) and Jordan Wynn (6 points) also played well.

The Patriots were led by Hadley Beauregard, who scored a team-high 13 points, and Gina O’Neill, who added 10. Maddie Harrington pulled down 10 rebounds and blocked 4 shots in defeat.

The all-tournament team was comprised of Wynn, Mulligan, Beauregard, Lunenburg’s Sarah Morse and Gardner’s Kiera Columbus.

North Middlesex’s Sarah Kleeman earned the Ken Blanchette Sportsmanship Award.
