SHIRLEY — ShirleyArts! announces auditions for its spring production of the Steven Schwartz musical, “Godspell.”

Auditions will be Jan. 2 and Jan. 4, 2018 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Ayer Shirley Middle School, 1 Hospital Road.

Auditions are open to adults, and students from grade six and up. Candidates must be strong singers and be able to learn 13 chorus numbers. All roles are open to male and female, young and old. The cast will include “movers” and “dancers” plus “ensemble” and “featured.” Rehearsals will be Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings with soloists staying later and some chorus members being given certain nights off. Performances will be March 23, 24, and 25, 2018.

Those auditioning will be taught part of a song from the showand will be asked to sing it and move to it. Candidates for featured soloist must also prepare a short solo in the style of, or from, the show (1 min. or less) and bring a copy of the music with them.

There are participation fees and script deposit fees of $25 each, due at the first rehearsal. Scholarship money is available. Contact Director Meredith Marcinkewicz at mail@shirleyarts.org with any questions.
