AYER — Nashoba Valley Medical Center’s sixth annual Hunger Run 5K Road Race will begin at NVMC, 200 Groton Road, at 11 a.m. All proceeds will benefit Loaves & Fishes, a non-profit organization that provides food and temporary support services to residents of Ayer, Devens, Groton, Harvard, Littleton and Shirley. Advance registration can be accomplished online by visiting nashobamed.org. The cost to register for the 5K race is $20 in advance, $10 for the Half Mile Run and $10 for walkers. Each runner should bring one non-perishable food item to be donated to Loaves & Fishes.

SUNDAY, OCT. 15

GROTON — The Groton Town Forest Trail Race will be at 163 West Main St. The race is sponsored by the Squannacook River Runners and is part of the WMAC’s Grand Tree Trail Race Series. The races start at 12:30 p.m. for the 9.5 mile race. At 12:40 p.m., a 3.4 mile race will be held. The two courses tour the scenic Groton Town Forest with no road crossings. Both race courses combine narrow dirt roads and winding single lane trails. Each course contains varied terrain, with many roots, rocks, leaves and hills. While not large, the hills are steep. SATURDAY, OCT. 21

WESTFORD — Runners and sponsors are sought for the Friends of Nashoba’s 6th aannual Haunted 5K Road Race. The event benefits the students of Nashoba Valley Technical High School. It is a family-friendly race, and everyone is welcome to walk, jog or run, with or without a costume. There will be a free fun run for kids before the 5K, which starts at 9:30 a.m. Prizes will be awarded. Registration fee is $10 for students 18 and under, $25 for adults 19-59, and $15 for those 60 and older. Those who register by Oct. 14 receive a free T-shirt. THURSDAY, NOV. 23

LOWELL — The 16th annual Thanks-4-Giving Road Race and Walk benefiting the Alternative House will begin at 8 a.m. at the Lowell Elks, 40 Old Ferry Road. Registration starts at 7 a.m. Race limited to first 1,600 entrants. 5K pre-registration $25, $30 day of race. 10K pre-registration $30, $35 day of race. Long-sleeve T-shirts to first 500 entrants. SATURDAY, NOV. 25

TYNGSBORO — The Rachel Morrison Memorial 5K cross country run or 1.5K walk will be held at the Academy of Notre Dame. The course is the cross country trail used by the high school. Pre-registration fees are $30 for the run, $25 for the walk, and children 12 and under are $20 for either the walk or the run. Add $5 to these fees if registering the day of the event.
