What better way to celebrate Independence Day than with fireworks and/or a parade?
Several Nashoba Valley towns are planning to bring out the red, white and blue for the celebration of the nation’s birth — and they aren’t taking place on the Fourth of July, which falls on a Tuesday this year.
Ayer
A Fresh Ayer Celebration of Independence! takes place on Saturday, July 1.
The fun starts at 2 p.m. with a parade down Main Street to Pirone Park at 17 School Street. Donnie and Josephine (Phine) Wallace are the grand marshals.
The parade will be followed at Pirone Park with a kids decorated bicycle judging and trophy awarding, food and vendor booths.
The concerts begin at 4 p.m. in park with Front and Center. At 7:30 the Nashoba Valley Concert Band takes the stage.
Fireworks will be at dusk.
Pepperell
The Pepperell 4th of July Committee has a full day planned for Saturday, July 1.
11 a.m. FireFest begins on the Pepperell Town Field at 4 Hollis Street.
The parade leaves Town Hall at 12:30 p.m., traveling on Main Street to the American Legion Hall. World War II veteran James R. Triehy will be the marshal. http://www.lowellsun.com/news/ci_30768740/artist-veteran-and-unlikely-radio-star
