In rare noon meeting, Shirley selectmen sign recall election warrant

SHIRLEY — Two selectmen met briefly and signed the warrant Tuesday for a recall election targeting two members of the Board of Selectmen.

Chairman Kendra Dumont and Rico Cappucci signed for the proposed recall of Robert Prescott.

Prescott was called out of town for a family emergency, Dumont said.

Another meeting is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 20 at 9 a.m. for Cappucci and Prescott to sign the warrant for Dumont’s recall.

The election is to be held on Jan. 30. A Middlesex Superior Court judge heard arguments last week over the recall issue and is expected to rule on a preliminary injunction at some point before the election.

The meeting to sign the warrant was “housekeeping,” Dumont told the dozen or so attendees at the five-minute session held at noon.
