Explore Townsend’s United Methodist Church at Holiday Fair

TOWNSEND — Townsend United Methodist Church will host the annual Holiday Fair and Tours Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Coffee and doughnut time is at 9 a.m. Mid-morning and throughout the day. a full lunch will be served with beef stew, hot dogs, corn chowder, and desserts. This year’s fair features baked goods, and gifts, a cookie walk, Silent Auction, and “Grandma’s Attic,” with gently-used household items, toys and books.

Another highlight is the Historic Tour with a short climb up the stairs into the Bell Tower. Visitors will learn the history of the building which was built in 1770 and why it was moved twice! Tour guides will show the rough wooden pews that are still referred to as the “slave pews.” Children and adults alike will be able to pull the heavy rope to ring the church bell. Be sure to bring your camera!.

Whether you are shopping for the holidays or birthdays, coming for lunch or the historical tour, the Holiday Fair promises to be one of the best ever — it offers something for everyone.

The church is located at 265 Main Street, at the corner of Rts. 13 and 119, in Townsend center. Townsend UMC is presenting a fun-filled holiday fair along with a glimpse of history in Townsend’s 1770 second meeting house. For further information please call 978-597-2486.
