TOWNSEND — Two donkeys were reportedly seen roaming Townsend streets Friday evening, according to police records.

Someone called police around 5:50 p.m. to report seeing a donkey wandering around South Harbor Road near Ash Street, according to the department’s police logs. Then, three minutes later, police received another call reporting two donkeys walking on nearby South Row Road.

Police called the town’s animal control officer, who said she knew the donkeys’ owners and would contact them. The animal control officer did not respond to immediate request for comment.
