School officials were happy to report a smooth opening of the school year.
Two districts welcomed students on August 30.
“We had the best opening,” said Ayer Shirley Regional School District Superintendent Mary Malone. “We didn’t have one glitch.”
The district even rolled out a new point-of-sale system for lunch. “That went extremely well,” Malone said.
She commended the entire staff for being prepared and professional. “They were just so happy to be back,” Malone said.
“It was a great day,” said Joanna Bilotta-Simone, executive assistant to the superintendent at the North Middlesex Regional School District.
The superintendent was not available for comment.
