Several cars were burglarized, with break-ins reported on Beaver Creek Circle, Elliott Street and three on Julia Lane. The police have identified a person of interest and recovered some of the stolen items. The investigation is ongoing.

3:35 a.m. – A fire in a planter on the porch of a home on Rodman Ave. was extinguished.

8:18 a.m. – Another garden gnome has gone missing, stolen from a yard on Peabody Rd.

Wednesday, July 27

5:46 a.m., Motor Vehicle Accident, Squannacook Road – A 46-year- old Shirley woman drove her vehicle off the road, striking a pole. According to the police report, the woman said she had fallen asleep. She refused the ambulance and was not cited for the crash.

12:42 p.m. – Mailbox vandalism, Horse Pond Road.

7:32 p.m. – Motor Vehicle Accident – A 37-year old North Carolina man who was visiting in the area was charged with several motor vehicle violations and faced additional charges after the Lamborghini Murcielago he was driving flipped over on Leominster Road. The man told police he was “distracted,” Police Chief Thomas Goulden said. Initial charges included operating a motor vehicle after driver’s license suspension, marked lanes violation and improper and unreasonable speed. He was also charged with operating as to endanger because of his two passengers, both children. They were not injured. An ambulance responded but the man refused it. The car was totaled.

Friday, July 29

7:45 p.m. Responding to a vandalism call on Great Road, police arrested a Shirley woman, Trisha Bragdon, 26 on a warrant that was unrelated to the call. According to Police Chief Thomas Goulden, he and another officer and a firefighter went to the home because the caller had stated that people inside were “trashing” the place and the occupants wouldn’t let them in. It turned out to be something of a false alarm, but one of them had an outstanding warrant, so she was arrested, he said.
