SHIRLEY — Summer reading kicks off with the Reading Olympics on Tuesday, June 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hazen Library.

Join Jungle Jim for a balloon magic show with his signature brand of balloon artistry, magic, comedy, storytelling and improvisation with over 15 volunteers taking part. Archery, basketball, fencing and even Scottish caber tossare just some of the events that athletes can compete in. Most importantly, Jim will incorporate just how important reading and staying active work together.

On June 22, 4-6 p.m., jointhe Friends of the Hazen Memorial Library for an afternoon of Library Olympic Games and Activities as part of the On Your Mark get Set, READ! Summer Reading program. Families are invited to a fun afternoon of Olympic challenges with hotdogs, drinks and snacks for sale (all proceeds go to the Friends). For each Olympic trial, participants will receive a ticket for the grand prizes awarded at the Summer Reading finale.
