TOWNSEND — The Townsend Congregational Church will host the lawn party at the Townsend Military Band’s June 16 concert on the Townsend Common.
Church members will be selling hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and sweet sausages with peppers and onions to hungry concertgoers.
Fresh fruit cups, fried dough, hot coffee, and cold soda and bottled water will also be available for purchase.
A wide variety of homemade cookies, breads, cakes, pies, and candies will be offered for sale.
An opportunity to play an assortment of games set up on the Common that evening such as “Sop it to the Sinner” and a bean bag toss should interest children attending the concert.
The Townsend Military Band will open its evening program at 7:30 by playing “Bugler’s Holiday” by Anderson and “Pixar Movie Magic'” arranged by Brown. Wechter’s “Spanish Flea”, Coleman’s “Tijuana Taxi”, and King’s “Princess of India” will be performed. Smith’s arrangement of “The Star Wars Epic Part II” by Williams, Barnes’ arrangement of “The Wizard of Oz” by Arlen and Harburg, and “Sea Songs” by Williams will be included in the first portion of the program.
“Thunder and Blazes” by Fucik” and “Pasedena Day” by Vessela will be played following intermission. “That Ragtime Regiment Band” by Morris and “The American Legion” by Vandersloot will be performed before the Townsend Band concludes its concert at 9:30 by playing the “Star Spangled Banner.”
