PEPPERELL — A classic car show on Town Field will reintroduce the town to an old car club that was founded with a slightly different purpose 57 years ago.

The Pepperell Road Knights are getting back together and putting on the show, said Tony Mariano in an email.

The family event features really cool cars, two live bands and a collection of photos and newspaper articles from 1959 through the mid-1960s.

Mariano and Larry Kimball are working together to revitalize the club. Original members included Edward Razzaboni and John Reese.

The club originally had 30 Pepperell youngsters who banded together to set a new trend, an undated and unattributed newspaper article said. The article refers to insurance rates and chivalry.

Another clip showed an advertisement asking for “small amount of land.”

The plea must have worked. Another clip announced that Young George Chambers of Lowell Road gave the club permission to use part of his property to build a club garage.

The 2016 show will be held at the Town Field, Saturday, June 11 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, June 12.
