Sarah Woods notched 11 strikeouts while earning the win in the circle as Groton-Dunstable edged Tyngsboro, 5-4, in eight innings in a Midland-Wachusett League crossover softball game.

Tuesday: The Crusaders had to overcome a 4-2 deficit while rallying for this dramatic victory.

Lauren Thorburn reached on a bunt single and scored the winning run in the eighth for Groton-Dunstable. Rose O’Malley, Jen Thorburn, Lauren Thorburn and Whitney Ellis had the Crusaders’ hits.

Tuesday: Alecia Deacon had four hits, knocked in three runs and scored three runs while leading the way for North Middlesex. Anna DeLeo (2 RBIs), Sarah Ward (2 RBIs) and Amanda Rossi (4 RBIs) had 3 hits each for the Patriots (1-3).

Tuesday: The hosts sent North Middlesex to defeat when they scored 1:11 into overtime.

Samantha Donahue was outstanding for the Patriots (4-2) with seven goals.

Other offensive stars were Molly O’Neill (3 goals) and Kaycee Cokonis (2 goals).

Katie Royal (1 assist) and Avery Dichter scored 3 goals each. Sammi Smith added 2 goals and 2 assists for Groton-Dunstable. Maria Antonellis made 5 saves in goal for the Crusaders.
