WESTFORD — Two students in the Banking/Marketing/Retail program at Nashoba Valley Technical High School were among about 2,500 from across Massachusetts to compete at the recent DECA State Conference at

the Marriott Copley Hotel in Boston.

Matthew Dixon, a senior from Pepperell, earned a plaque for his top-10 finish in the category of Sports and Entertainment Marketing.

Kaitlyn Fales, a sophomore from Townsend, competed in the Retail Marketing Series category.

They took a 100-question marketing exam the first day of the competition, then completed two role-play assignments the second day.

Matthew and Kaitlyn qualified for the State Conference by earning medals at the DECA District 5 Conference earlier in the winter. At the districts, Kaitlyn placed third place in Retail Merchandising, and Matthew Dixon earned fourth place in Sports and Entertainment Marketing.
