TOWNSEND — By unanimous vote, the Townsend Republican Town Committee endorsed both Thomas Frank Ardinger of Leominster and Susan Smiley of Lancaster for re-election to the Massachusetts State Republican Committee.
The action was taken during the RTC’s monthly meeting on February 18. In Massachusetts, Republican voters in each state-senatorial district choose two representatives to the state party committee: a committeeman and a committeewoman. This voting is done as part of the Presidential Preference Primary Election which will be held this year on Tuesday, March 1. Townsend is part of the Worcester and Middlesex senatorial district, along with other area municipalities including Fitchburg, Leominster, Gardner, and Lunenburg.
Speaking for the Townsend committee, chair Richard Shuford said, "Over the past four years, the Republican party in Massachusetts has enjoyed greater energy and increased success. A major part of this success has been the exemplary effort put forth by our representatives on the state committee,
Frank Ardinger and Susan Smiley. Recognizing this, the members of the Townsend committee are showing their strong support for both Frank and Susan as they seek another term."
The Townsend Republican Town Committee exists to promote both the ideas and candidates of the Republican Party within Townsend and the surrounding region. For more information, see the website at townsendgop.org.
