TOWNSEND — A public meeting will be held to discuss a 2016 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).
Are you interested in learning more about a federal program administered by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that offers financial assistance for a wide range of projects to eligible Townsend homeowners, based on low and moderate household income?
The Townsend Land Use Department will hold a public meeting Monday at 12:15 p.m. to seek input from interested residents and community organizations regarding a CDBG application for financial assistance for qualified projects to be submitted through the Montachusett Regional Planning Commission, working in conjunction with the Town of Shirley, to receive if awarded, up to $1,000,000. The meeting will be held at the Townsend Meeting Hall, 16 Dudley Road.
Eligible projects include: Failed septic systems — to bring into compliance with Title V; Rehabilitation, such as roof replacement, vinyl siding, replacement windows, heating and hot water system repairs and replacement, plumbing and electrical repairs, foundation/structural repairs, kitchen and bathroom repairs, porch repairs, ceiling and floor repairs, weatherization, asbestos and lead paint removal, remediation of non-potable water issues; Fuel Assistance — residents will be asked to help identify residents with these needs.
The Land Use Department has put together a Community Development Strategy that will be discussed in this Public Forum and is looking to form a Steering Committee to help implement goals identified in the Strategy over the next three to five years.
