Harvard Schools Trust awards grants to Hildreth School

HARVARD — The Board of Directors of the Harvard Schools Trust (HST) voted unanimously to fund two educational enrichment grants at their Dec. 8 meeting. Both grants will benefit the Hildreth Elementary School in Harvard.

The first grant was approved to outfit the 5th grade with Sphero SPRK robotic balls to support the science unit on Motion and Design. Students will learn how to program the balls using their iPads, ultlimately incorporating robotics into their design challenges using coding and STEM principles.

Another grant was approved to purchase iPad microphones for use by students in producing their newscasts, infomercials and documentaries. The mics will also be used by students in technology class and for special projects.

The next meeting of the Harvard Schools Trust will be held on Jan.12, 2016. Grant submissions for consideration at this meeting are due by Jan. 4, 2016.
