Summer Reading Finale!

The Summer Reading Program ends Aug. 28. There is still time to log in what you have read and qualify for prizes! Adults and teens can join us for ice cream socials to celebrate the end of the reading programs for the summer where Grand Prizes and Door Prizes will be given out. Also, folks of all ages won’t want to miss the ever popular Tanglewood Marionettes as they present The Dragon King on Aug. 27.

Adult Programs:

Knitting Group: Thursday, Aug. 27 and Sept. 3, 2-3:30 p.m. These are the weekly meetings of the knitting group. Self-directed work on your own knitting projects. Handcrafts are also welcome.

Adult Summer Reading Outrageous Ice Cream Social! Friday, Aug. 28, 3-4:30 p.m. Celebrate the conclusion of the Adult Summer Reading Program by making your own sundae and much, much more! We will draw winning tickets for 3 Grand Prizes! Door Prizes! The votes will be tallied and we’ll reveal lists of our Favorite Fictional Literary Heroes and Real Life Heroes. Join us for a rousing group game of “Name That Top Ten Title!” Fill in the blanks to reveal the title of a Summer Reading Book that received a 10 star rating.*

Young Adult Programs:

Paul Merklein-How to Draw Super Heroes: Wednesday, Aug. 26, 7-8 p.m. Cartoonist Paul Merklein draws famous super heroes from comic books, TV and movies- and you draw super heroes with him! Grades 5-12. Please sign-up online. *

End of Summer Sundae Social: Thursday, Aug. 27, 7-8 p.m. Grades 6-12. Celebrate the end of summer with a cool, sweet treat at the library. We’ll provide the ice cream and all the fixings. Bring your friends for a chance to catch up on all that’s happened this summer. It would be helpful if you would sign up ahead of time. Thanks!*

Robotics Club: Thursday, Sept. 3, 7-8:30 p.m. Grades 6-12. We will use LEGO® Mindstorms® EV3 kits to build and program simple robots. New members always welcome. Please sign up!

Children’s Programs:

Drop-in Game Night: Thursday, Aug. 27, 6-8:30 p.m., grades K-5. Come play board games with friends and family!

Tanglewood Marionettes present The Dragon King: Thursday, Aug. 27, 7-7:45 p.m. For all ages. Colorful sea creatures, an exciting adventure, and a Dragon King that will knock your socks off! All this and more can be found in Tanglewood Marionettes’ award-winning show. NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Please note: This event will be held at the Groton-Dunstable Regional Middle School PAC.*

Book Worms: Tuesday, Sept. 1, 4:15-4:45 p.m. Kids book discussion group for grades 4-5. Enjoy and discuss great books and have refreshments! Call the Children’s Room for more information at (978) 448-1168.

Read-Aloud with Jennie: Thursday, Sept. 3, 4-4:30 p.m. Children in Grades K-2 can drop-in and listen to Jennie Fitzkee read aloud from some of the best children’s chapter books!
