Townsend Scout groups and the North Middlesex Regional High School Giving Tree will co-host the lawn party at the Townsend Military Band’s Thursday, Aug. 13, concert on the Townsend Common.

Boy Scout Troop #10 will be selling grilled hot dogs, hamburgers, and cheeseburgers, chili, shaved ice, and a variety of home baked goods. Boy Scout Troop #81 will be offering fried dough, cheesy fries, and popcorn for sale. Both Boy Scout Troops will be selling cold bottled water and assorted flavors of soda.

Townsend Girl Scouts will be doing face painting and have a decorate your own cupcake concession.

The NMRHS Giving Tree group will have a bounce house and several games including a bean bag toss and the lollipop tree set up on the Common for the enjoyment of children at the concert.

The Townsend Military Band will open its concert at 7:30 p.m. by playing Wagner’s “Under the Double Eagle” march and “Begin the Beguine” by Porter. “Themes from Dr. Zhivago” by Jarre and the “George Gershwin Selections” transcribed by Bennett will be performed. “The King and I” arranged by Bennett and Fucik’s “Thunder and Blazes” march will be included in the first portion of the program.

“Bravura” by Duble and “Largo from the New World Symphony” by Dvorak” will be played following intermission. The Townsend Military Band will perform the “Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2” by Liszt and Hall’s “Independentia March” before it concludes its concert at 9:30 p.m. by playing the “Star Spangled Banner”.

Note: Due to rain on 30 July, the Townsend Military Band will definitely be playing until at least Aug. 20, weather-permitting.
