The Townsend Conservation Land Trust is hosting an informational meeting about the proposed Kinder Morgan Northeast Energy Direct project, including the proposed 14-mile-long lateral in Townsend, Mason and Lunenburg.
The meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, at Memorial Hall, 272 Main St. in Townsend.
After Veronica Kell of TCLT provides a brief update on the current status of the project, Rep. Sheila Harrington will share how various state agencies and commissions are reviewing the project and how citizens can be involved in those reviews.
A representative of the Nashua River Watershed Association will provide an update on the legal advocacy work done by Northeast Energy Solutions and a representative on PLAN-NE will update the group on their advocacy work.
The formal meeting will end with a discussion of what citizens can do now to make a difference. An informal question and information sharing will follow.
With the recent announcement of the location of the proposed compressor stations, most people expect that the formal Federal Energy Regulatory Commission scoping process will be beginning this summer.
Come learn how to participate most effectively in this process. If you have questions, want more information or want to be contacted about future meetings, please email TCLT at tclandtrust@gmail.com.
