The Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce has announced that the chamber’s Board of Directors has named one of its Community Service and Leadership Awards in honor of Steve Gervais.
“The Stephen L. Gervais Sr. Outstanding Professional Businessperson Award will be given to a business or professional person who, through extraordinary effort in his or her chosen field, has contributed significantly to the Nashoba Valley Region,” they wrote.
As noted by chamber President and CEO Melissa Fetterhoff, Gervais was president of Gervais Ford in Ayer and a long-time member of the Nashoba Valley Chamber, past president and member of its board.
“Steve’s leadership as an ethical and successful businessman, as well as his quiet philanthropy, contributed many meaningful and lasting contributions to the chamber and Nashoba Valley community,” she wrote.
Steve served on the Board of Trustees at North Middlesex Savings Bank for 27 years. He was a very active community leader, a past president of the Rotary Club of Ayer, Devens, Harvard and Shirley, and a former board member of Deaconess-Nashoba Hospital (now Nashoba Valley Medical Center) and the Devens Enterprise Commission.
Through this award, the chamber “will recognize outstanding professionals who make a contribution to the community, and encourage others to follow the example set by Steve Gervais.”
The many mentions of Steve Gervais following his passing spoke not only of his contributions but his heart. Among the attributes this award will honor will be what he carried inside, his love of his fellow man and his willingness to serve him.
