I would like to let people know that there will be a Candidates Night on Tuesday, May 5, at 7 p.m. at the Senior Center on West Main Street. There are contested races for selectman and for School Committee.

The event will be videotaped for later broadcast, but if people want to ask questions of the candidates, they need to be there in person.

With all the excitement emanating from the Board of Selectmen and the Town Manager’s office lately, I believe that it’s important for voters to be fully informed on the three candidates’ stands on the issues.

And given that the Groton-Dunstable Regional School District budget, at nearly $19M, is almost 57 percent of the town’s budget, it behooves us to pay close attention to what the various candidates for School Committee have to say.

Candidates Night is jointly sponsored by the Groton Democratic and Republican Town committees.
