Susan Smith provided much of the historical background for a recent story on the eagles that have flown above Town Hall and said she wants to clarify her position as to the eagle’s flight pattern. Richard Parker told her that as a child he kicked pieces of debris down the street. His mother identified it as the remains of the eagle. The story of the eagle being removed during World War II because of enemy aircraft is an unverified urban legend that former resident Pauline Mahony preferred, Smith said.
