Townsend resident Lucas Diekan and Tristan Allard of Harvard, fifth-graders at Applewild School in Fitchburg, and Phoebe Hager, a sixth-grader, are finalists in the school’s round of the National Geographic Bee contest. The top scorer from the school will take a qualifying exam to be eligible for the Massachusetts State bee to be held in Worcester in March. The National finals will be in Washington, DC in May.
