Shirley Friendship Fund says thank you for generous holiday giving

The Shirley Friendship Fund was able to provide 40 local families with a better Christmas.

All children received gifts of clothes and their favorite toys. The toys did not cost us money because they were collected and donated by the 4 Giving Trees located at North Middlesex Bank, Fidelity Bank, St. Anthony’s Church and part of MCI Shirley.

Each tree had 10 families assigned to it. We hung requests for toys, gift cards, personal care items and grocery gift cards.

Shirley Friendship Fund wishes to thank local charities like the Shirley Hose Company that purchased the fresh vegetables for the Christmas dinner, and the Cable Advisory Committee donated money that purchased every child pajamas.

The Shirley Friendship Fund appreciated the money and turkeys donated by 22 local businesses and residents, which made it possible to purchase more food and warm clothing the children.

SFF is not just active at Christmas time. We have helped families with heating and electric bills, medical and dental expenses or a cemetery stone.

If you missed the holiday season to donate there is still time to make your donation. Please make your checks payable to the Shirley Friendship Fund, P.O. BOX 564, Shirley 01464.

The SFF elves donated their time to shop, sort, organize and wrap gifts this season. Several elves also donated breakfast cereal, stuffing, cranberry sauce, pasta and personal care items. We used coupons and watched the sales to get the most for our money. Shirley Fire Department provides us with a location to sort, wrap and pass out our holiday baskets.
