TOWNSEND — Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6538 in Townsend is hosting its monthly free breakfast for veterans and their families on Saturday, Dec. 27, 8-11 a.m. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow veterans within the surrounding communities.

If you have served in a conflict that involved the United States, have the SSBN Deterrent Patrol insignia, the Navy or Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal or received hostile fire/imminent danger pay, you are eligible to join the VFW.

VFW Post 6538 is looking for new members. Post 6538 has former military veterans of all wars, to include World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Somalia, Iraq and Afghanistan, to name a few. We enjoy this family-oriented camaraderie and have fun while serving others being involved with many events within our community. We meet on the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. Feel free to stop by and talk to our members either before or after the meeting.

By joining, you help the VFW maintain and improve veteran benefits by making the organization stronger, better able to influence Congress not to cut benefits but to improve them. Any one of you who now receives benefits from the government is receiving it because the VFW led the fight to get you the benefits you deserve.

The Townsend VFW is located at 491 Main St., West Townsend (right off Route 119).

See you at the breakfast!
