TOWNSEND — Carol A. (Burgess) Roberts, 71, of Townsend, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 10, in her home surrounded by family and loved ones.

Carol was born in Lowell on March 17, 1943, a daughter of the late Florence (Mills) Burgess. She graduated from Tewksbury High School in 1960 and received a degree in Business Administration from Fisher Jr. College. She has resided in Townsend since 1962.

Carol worked as an administrator at the Burbank Campus of Health Alliance in the residency program for nine years until her recent retirement. Prior to that she was employed for 30 years at the former Nielsen Bainbridge Company in West Townsend.

Carol was an active member of the Townsend United Methodist Church for the past 50 years where she was the financial secretary, Sunday School teacher and was a member of the Bible Study Group for the past 17 years. She loved her grandchildren and was often found at many of their sporting events and recitals. She opened her heart and home to friends and family members at the holidays.

She leaves her husband of 53 years, William “Bill” Roberts, of Townsend; two sons, Troy Roberts and his wife Jannine, of Pepperell and Dana Roberts and his wife, Shauna, of Townsend; her father, Philip Burgess and his wife, Maxine, of Port Charlotte, FL; a daughter-in-law, Debra Roberts, of Ashby; three grandchildren, Justin, Samantha and Sydney and many nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by two sons, Glenn Roberts, who died in 2013, and Lee Roberts, who died in 1972, as well as two sisters, Donna Gardner, of Pepperell, and Sharon Yost, of Tewksbury .

Her memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. in the Townsend Methodist Church, 265 Main St. Burial will be held privately in the Hillside Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
